What moves the price

Why two turf quotes can be thousands apart

Most of the difference is in what you cannot see once the turf is down: what came out, what went under it, and how carefully it was cut in. Ask any installer to show each of these as its own line.

Every proposal from us includes a five-year workmanship warranty covering seams, edges, wrinkles and base settling, plus the manufacturer’s product warranty, which varies by product and is listed on the proposal.

Removal
Sod and roots come out as part of the job. Concrete, rock beds or old rubber take more labor and disposal, so they get their own line.
Base
We use a 4-inch compacted crushed-concrete base under turf and go deeper under paver pads that carry weight, like a hot tub. Low spots and drainage fixes add base and labor.
Product
Pet turf, lawn turf and putting turf are different products at different prices. Each proposal names the exact product for each area.
Infill
Infill is included in our turf pricing and is matched to the turf and the area. Inside Tampa city limits, the permit packet requires clean silica sand or zeolite infill, and the infill we use there meets that rule.
Shape and cuts
Curves, beds, palms, utility boxes and stepping stones mean more cutting and more waste. Edging at planting beds is priced by the linear foot.
Access
A wide gate lets equipment in. A tight side yard or a backyard reached only through the house means more hand work.
Size
Bigger areas spread delivery, setup and haul-off over more square feet. Small areas can cost more per square foot.
Permits
Tampa, Clearwater and St. Petersburg each have their own turf rules. We pull the permit when one is needed. Permit fees are listed separately from the install price.

How much does artificial turf cost per square foot in Tampa?

Installed artificial turf in Tampa Bay commonly runs about $8 to $18 per square foot. Where your yard lands in that range depends on the product, removal, base work, access and the size of the area. Putting greens cost more.

How much does 500 square feet of turf cost?

At the typical $8 to $18 per square foot, 500 square feet of installed turf works out to roughly $4,000 to $9,000 before extras like edging, stepping stones or a putting green. Small jobs can price higher per square foot because delivery, setup and haul-off do not shrink with the size of the area.

How much does a backyard putting green cost in Tampa?

Putting greens cost more per square foot than lawn or pet turf because of the contoured base, the putting turf and the cups. Each cup, pin and flag set is its own line on your proposal.

Is removal of the old grass included?

Removing sod and roots and hauling it away is part of our installed turf price. Removing something harder, like old poured rubber or concrete, is priced as its own line.

Do I need a permit, and does it cost extra?

It depends on the city. Inside Tampa city limits, synthetic turf goes through a city permit with plan review and a final inspection. Clearwater charges a $200 permit application fee. St. Petersburg limits turf in required front yards. We pull the permit when one is needed, and the fee is listed on your proposal.

How do payments work?

For most residential projects, a deposit at signing reserves your install date and lets us order materials, and the balance is due at the final walkthrough. The exact amounts are written on your proposal, which is good for 30 days.
