What we build in St. Pete
Turf and pavers for St. Petersburg yards
St. Petersburg allows artificial turf, but the city treats it as an impervious surface and limits how much of a required front or street-side yard can be non-living material. That makes backyards, pool surrounds, side yards and putting greens the strongest turf projects in St. Pete. We plan the layout with the city’s limits in mind and use pavers and plantings where they make more sense than turf.
Lawn turf
Lawn turf chosen for how you use your front and back yards.
Pet turf
Pet turf with a fully permeable backing for dog runs and side yards.
Putting greens
Contoured backyard greens with cups, pins and flags.
Pavers & pool decks
Pool decks, patios, walkways and driveways, often paired with turf.

Local rules for turf in St. Petersburg
Rules change, so we check them again for your address before we start. Here is what applies in St. Petersburg as of October 2026.
- Front yards
- St. Petersburg treats artificial turf as impervious. Driveways, walks, patios and similar surfaces combined may not exceed 45 percent of a required front yard on an inside lot, or 25 percent on a corner lot.Source: City of St. Petersburg planning presentation; St. Pete Catalyst, October 2026
- Parkway
- The city does not allow turf in the parkway, the strip between your property line and the street. That area stays sod or ground cover.Source: City of St. Petersburg
- Watering
- Pinellas County, including St. Petersburg, is under the regional one-day-per-week watering order through March 31, 2027. Your exact day depends on your address and water provider.Source: Southwest Florida Water Management District and Pinellas County, 2026
- HOAs
- Florida law (Section 720.3045, Florida Statutes) says an HOA may not restrict artificial turf on a part of your lot that is not visible from the frontage, a neighboring lot, a common area or a community golf course. Front yards and other visible areas can still need approval.Source: Florida Statutes, Section 720.3045

“The installation crew was punctual, worked efficiently, and left the space spotless when they were done. The transformation is unbelievable.”
Can I put artificial turf in my St. Pete front yard?
Some, but not all of it. St. Petersburg treats turf as impervious and caps the share of a required front yard that can be non-living surfaces at 45 percent on inside lots and 25 percent on corner lots, counting driveways and walks. We plan around that limit.
Can turf go between the sidewalk and the street?
No. St. Petersburg keeps the parkway as sod or ground cover.
Is the backyard a better place for turf in St. Pete?
Usually. Backyards, pool areas, side yards and putting greens are where most St. Pete turf projects make sense, and they are where families spend their time.
Do you work on St. Pete pool decks?
Yes. We install pavers and pool decks and often run them into turf or set stepping stones in turf along the pool.
How much does it cost?
Installed turf in Tampa Bay commonly runs about $8 to $18 per square foot, and putting greens run more. See our Tampa turf cost guide for details.
